Into today's education, it is vital to use technology and to be able to teach cross-curricula. I would like to use this blog to help any teacher who is looking for ways to use technology cross-curricula. Please, feel free to respond to any comment you see and add your own new information. Together we can help each other to expand the knowledge of fellow educators and their students.
Do you have any new technology that can be used in the Physical Education Classroom and also in the General Classroom?

I completely agree that it is vital to use technology in today's classrooms. I think it is great that you are going to use technology when teaching Physical Education.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way to integrate subject matter into activities that students enjoy during Physical Education classes. Using technology that can be uploaded for parents to view is a great way to involve parents in what their children are learning at school even if they cannot be there. I have found two websites that may be beneficial to you:
http://www.ccsdedtech.com/cc/pe/pe_index.htm
http://teach.fcps.net/trt12/peresources.htm
I think that you can bring technology very easily into the PE classroom. What if the students had to design a brand new game. They could make a power point to explain the games and the rules. They can use a video camera and record people demoing the game or showing illegal moves and add it into the powerpoint. They can write a the history of the sport and how they came up with the game. This could link to a English assignment or a history assignment. I also think that you could use a camera and tape students doing games or fitness moves and be able to show them what they are doing wrong and how to improve.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of having students design a new game and then creating a powerpoint to explain the game and the rules. What a fun and exciting way to motivate students and share what they are learning with others. This is something that could definitely be integrated with subject matter the students are learning in their classrooms. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI think you could use the blog as a tool to post things learned in the classroom as well as classroom notes. I know there are key vocabulary words that go along with the physical education curriculum. You could post videos of examples of the vocabulary. This might also be a way to reach second language learners who might otherwise be confused by just reading the vocabulary.
ReplyDeleteGrade2teacher,
ReplyDeleteMy school is always talking about teaching cross-curricula. I agree that is can be used to show the corrilation between Physical Education and other subject matter. Thanks you so much for the websites. I shall check them out and use them.
AshleyCurtisCarsey,
ReplyDeleteYour ideas are great. I was also thinking about using technology to help the students learn and understand different games from around the world. Also, to monitor they weekly fitness levels.
Amanda Jones,
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of posting things learned in the classroom. This can also help those students who were absent from class to keep up with the current lesson. I also like the idea of using this to increase the vocabulary knowledge and reaching the second language learners. Thanks for the ideas.
